Anxiety and Overthinking

Anxiety is tentacles of fear that reach up and pull you down into the mud of overthinking. Fear and thinking cycle round and round – fear in your body causing thoughts and thinking causing more fear.

The thoughts create nervousness and hesitation in daily life, with you being afraid to do even the things you badly want to do.

You may have anxiety and overthink if:

  • You miss out on special occasions, and friends get togethers and family dos when the anxiety is socially focused.
  • You miss out on attending self-care events even when you know you need them.
  • You miss out of job opportunities and advancements when the anxiety turns its wheel.
  • You actively avoid any hint of conflict or disagreement because of fear of consequences.
  • You are hypervigilant, super prepared, and have analysed every possible eventuality.
  • You think and think about the worst possible scenarios – in order to be warned and prepared.

What Annette Helps With

I can teach you some strategies to use to calm your nervous system in the moment, especially for when the panic starts arising.

Lets slow it all down. Lets get to the detail of the triggers, the effects and the fears.

I realise that you don’t want to. I know you just want it to go away. I acknowledge that it is uncomfortable to talk about it and especially uncomfortable to feel it. And it feels too big to change.

But I know from my own experience and from clients that all this can change. This whole pattern can be consigned to the past. And the past is where it started, when you were young.

Then it got embedded deeper and deeper, the more it got repeated.
So we start by looking at the present and becoming aware of exactly how a pattern is playing out. The more clear on the pattern, the more likely we are to address the core issue.

We will also clarify exactly what you want and how you want to function. It can be easy to say what you don’t want, but illuminating what you want can be your guiding star.

What happens in a session?

1. We begin with what is present

You do not need to arrive with the “right words” or a clear explanation. We begin with what is happening for you now.

2. You are deeply listened to

There is space to speak honestly, feel what is there and be met without judgement.

3. We explore the patterns underneath

Together, we may gently look at beliefs, emotions, memories or subconscious patterns that are influencing your current experience.

4. Hypnotherapy or guided inner work may be used

Where appropriate, Annette may use hypnotherapy, guided relaxation or inner inquiry to support deeper awareness and change.

5. You leave with more clarity

The aim is to help you feel more connected, calm and aware of your own inner truth.
