Hypnotherapy
Some of us are wary of hypnosis or hypnotherapy. I know, I was. It is only recently that I started saying that one of my skills is hypnotherapy. Maybe you have seen or heard of stage shows where the hypnotherapist hypnotises someone into acting like a rabbit or some other animal.
Therapeutic hypnotherapy is nothing like that.
Traditional hypnotherapy such as training in NZ, is about changing a behaviour, using a prescribed script
I know this because I had a client who was trained in this style and brought me a script to use with her. I also trained in The Journey method and then we used to same type of scripts, though with a bit of flexibility, to change a behaviour.
My style of hypnotherapy, as trained in The Leela School of Awakening, is definitely not about getting you to do anything you don’t want to. In fact, it’s not about getting you to do anything.
We talk about whatever issue you want to explore, as in counselling, we establish what you want so you have a north star, and then there is a guided meditation to relax you deeply so that you can access the subconscious and finish with whatever pattern we have identified as no longer serving you.
People find it very relaxing and some say they find that they relax deeper than ever before. It is so good. When you allow yourself to drop deep inside, with guidance, you will discover the peace that you want. You will find that the patterns running on the surface are not who you are. You can discover the truth of you. The essence of you.
Online Hypnotherapy
These 2 modalities are blended with others, such a psychotherapy, NLP, CBT along with deep listening and inquiry work, whether you come to see me at my home or whether we meet online.
Online sessions enable you to be comfortable in your own surroundings. We can still connect at a deep level online.
And all that I have said under the headings of hypnotherapy apply to online sessions.
What happens in a session?
1. We begin with what is present
You do not need to arrive with the “right words” or a clear explanation. We begin with what is happening for you now.
2. You are deeply listened to
There is space to speak honestly, feel what is there and be met without judgement.
3. We explore the patterns underneath
Together, we may gently look at beliefs, emotions, memories or subconscious patterns that are influencing your current experience.
4. Hypnotherapy or guided inner work may be used
Where appropriate, Annette may use hypnotherapy, guided relaxation or inner inquiry to support deeper awareness and change.
5. You leave with more clarity
The aim is to help you feel more connected, calm and aware of your own inner truth.

What is the difference between counselling and hypnotherapy?
Counselling gives you space to talk, reflect and be heard. Hypnotherapy works more directly with subconscious beliefs, patterns and emotional responses.
Do I need to know what is wrong before I book?
No. You can arrive exactly as you are. Many people simply know they feel stuck, anxious, disconnected or ready for something to change.
Can sessions be done online?
Yes. Sessions are available online via Google Meet across New Zealand.
Are sessions available online?
