Counselling & Hypnotherapy Sessions on the Kāpiti Coast and Online

Gentle, confidential support for people who feel stuck in anxiety, overthinking, emotional pain, old patterns or a sense of disconnection from themselves.

At The Inner Path, Annette Burrell offers one-to-one counselling and hypnotherapy sessions designed to help you feel heard, supported and more connected to who you really are.

You may benefit from counselling and hypnotherapy if you:

If any of these sounds familiar, you are welcome to start with a conversation.

  • Feel anxious, overwhelmed or emotionally stuck
  • Find yourself overthinking or worrying constantly
  • Struggle with people pleasing or saying no
  • Feel disconnected from yourself or unsure what you want
  • Keep repeating old patterns even though you understand them
  • Have addictive behaviours that you want to stop
  • Carry feelings of shame, fear, grief or “not good enough”
  • Want gentle support rather than a rushed or clinical experience

What Annette Helps With

Support for anxiety, old patterns and emotional healing

Anxiety & Overthinking

Support to explore what sits underneath worry, fear, racing thoughts and nervous system overwhelm.

People Pleasing & Boundaries

Gentle support to understand why it can feel hard to say no, ask for what you need or put yourself first.

Old Emotional Patterns

Explore patterns that may have started early in life and continue to affect your relationships, confidence or sense of self.

Self-Worth & Inner Criticism

Work with beliefs such as “I’m not good enough,” shame, guilt or the feeling that something is wrong with you.

Grief, Loss & Life Transitions

A safe space to be deeply heard when life feels uncertain, painful or difficult to navigate.

A gentle, intuitive and deeply present approach

Sessions create a safe space where you will be listened to without judgement, without making anything you say mean anything about you. You will discover that you not need fixing.

My approach during a session may include:

  • Counselling
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Deep listening
  • Guided relaxation
  • Inner inquiry
  • NLP
  • Psychotherapy-informed support
  • Leela Therapy
  • Meditation and mindfulness practices
  • Awareness of the body

The focus is not just on managing symptoms, but on understanding the deeper patterns that may be shaping your experience.

What happens in a session?

1. We begin with what is present

You do not need to arrive with the “right words” or a clear explanation. We begin with what is arising in you at this moment and what is happening in your life. Even if it comes out in a jumble. You are welcome, just as you are.

2. You are deeply listened to

There is space, safety and support to speak honestly, feel what is there and be met without judgement. I will have a quiet mind and an open, compassionate heart. I will not have a personal agenda.

3. We explore the patterns underneath

Together, we may gently look at thinking, beliefs, emotions, body sensations, memories or subconscious patterns that are influencing your current experience.

4. Hypnotherapy or guided inner work may be used

Where appropriate and with your permission, I may use hypnotherapy, guided relaxation or inner inquiry to support deeper awareness and change.

5. You leave with more clarity

You will become more aware of how you function as a human and that that you are not those surface patterns. You will know what you want and the choices to take. You will be very relaxed and clear, having experienced the truth of your essence.

What is the difference between counselling and hypnotherapy?

Counselling gives you space to talk, reflect and be heard. Hypnotherapy works more directly with subconscious beliefs, patterns and emotional responses.

Do I need to know what is wrong before I book?

No. You can arrive exactly as you are. Many people simply know they feel stuck, anxious, disconnected or ready for something to change.

Can sessions be done online?

Yes. Sessions are available online via Google Meet across New Zealand.

Are sessions available online?

Yes. Sessions are available online through Google Meet, so you can work with Annette from anywhere in New Zealand. Online sessions can still be personal, gentle and deeply supportive.

Where are in-person sessions held?

In-person sessions are available on the Kapiti Coast.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on what you are bringing and what kind of support you are looking for. Some people come for a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, guided process. You remain aware and in control throughout the session.

What if I feel nervous about booking?

That is very normal. You are welcome to start by sending a simple message or booking a conversation to see whether it feels right.

Ready to begin?

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If something here resonates with you, you are welcome to book a session with Annette.

A first step can be simple. You can just say, “I’d like to talk.”
