Here I want to explain this work that I do. It’s called Leela Therapy.
At a networking meeting I will start by saying that I do Counselling with Hypnotherapy. And this is it, in brief. This is what most people can relate to. So a useful starting point.
But it is so much more.
If talking about modalities, it is CBT, NLP, Hypnotherapy and Counselling all bound together with deep listening and inquiry.
If talking about healing then this Leela Therapy looks at the structure and patterns of your thinking, emotions and what triggers them, and behavioural patterns that you learned when young and immature.
If talking about spirituality, then it is exploring who you truly are.
There are 3 levels of this work and they all intertwine.
1. The symptom level where someone wants to change a behaviour or pattern. It involves relieving symptoms such as phobias, smoking, drinking, eating, nail-biting, over-thinking, people pleasing and other addictions.
2. The next level is someone wanting to change how they feel about themselves to have more confidence, more self-esteem, more forgiveness, more self-acceptance, more self-love.
3. The next level is where a person is ready and willing to end the story of personal suffering and live in peace as the truth of who they really are, no matter what is happening outside. It points to the realization of non-duality.
These are not separate and often in the inquiry into the symptoms, more compassion arises with more acceptance and self-love.
And there might also be a glimpse of realization that the suffering is self-inflicted by the mind, with a willingness to leave the familiar narrative of the mind and fall into the unknown. Scary and wonderful and liberating. Deep silence and stillness, which is here all the time.
As a therapist, “I” will be out of the way with a quiet mind (no making meaning out of what you say), an open heart (no judgement of you) and no personal agenda (not trying to fix you). I will listen and guide and be an open space for you to explore what is going on.
I can only support you as deep into the third level as I have been myself, so this is why I continue to meet with a mentor and take part on Leela School inquiry sessions.
I’d be honoured to support you in rediscovering who you are.
With love,
Annette
